11am........My friend, Angela and I had been travelling around Eastern Europe, and one morning after waking up in a hostel in Bled (North Slovenia - which is deep within the Julian Alps, so pretty!) we decided we wanted to see more of the Alps and the Soca Valley, so we decided to take the train right through before we headed off to Croatia.............

......we’d missed the earlier train which would’ve given us time to do it so now we had to take the late one....we knew at the other end there was no public transport, but we thought lets just wing it!!! You only live once!

3pm.............The train weaved through the Alps and the Soca Valley and Angela and I were treated to the most fabulous views!!! The Soca Valley was absolutely gorgeous, the water was such a breathtaking turquoise green, so worth the lack of transport at the other end!!!

5pm.............Sooooooo..........after the amazing train ride we find ourselves deep in Slovenia, no trains, buses, etc....so we hitch-hiked!!! It is such a nice country though, absolutely no trouble whatsoever there, a little bit like Southern Ireland! (although you can never be toooo confident!)

We received about 4 lifts (oh at 1 point we were stuck in the vineyard country and needed some water so I go looking and ended up with a big! bottle of wine of one of the locals, soooo cool!), we then managed to get to get to a bus station and take the bus to the bottom of Slovenia.............

11pm..............but are stuck there as there is no trains or buses until the following day!

..............so we meet this really cool Slovenian girl called Tanya who was waiting for a date with her Croatian boyfriend.......she asks us if we wanna lift over the border, well in the end after travelling all day we end up going to a brilliant Croatian festival with her, her boyfriend (and met up with their mates!!!)......excellent!

3am..............they drop us off at the bus station (about 3 in the morning!) and we have to wait about 2 hours, so we go into the local petrol station and guess what it is open 24 hours and it has a flipping bar in there!!! can you believe it, it was the in place to be, loads of people, bigtime party, soooo funny!!!

5am.............Well after partying at the Shell garage we take the bus to Croatia, then another (13 hours) to Dubrovnik, ......it is absolutely breathtaking!!! Thousands of islands on the Adriatic coast, it is soooooo beautiful......................on arrival in Dubrovnik we disembark the bus to find we are swamped with local women offering us their homes for the night, but that of course is another story....... .......to be continued!!!
